There is no difference between Kiswahili and Swahili. It's the same language. Technically, if you put 'ki' before the name of a group of people, then it means that you are talking about their language: Kimasai (Masai language) Kifaransa (French) Kiingereza (English) And thus Kiswahili is the language of the Swahili people. Swahili, then, in my understanding is just what you call the language when speaking in English. Kiswahili is what you'd call it when speaking in Swahili - though I'm sure most East Africans pay it less attention.

Yes, I purchased my KiSwahili (the Swahili language) Pimsleur course right thorugh Pimsleur but I've also purchased other Pimsleur courses through E-bay. Rosetta Stone was a waste of time and hugely expensive when compared to the Pimsleur language course. I wouldn't have liked the Rosetta Stone course anyway but since they misrepresented the product to try to get my credit card, I'm even more upset about that company. Plus, who wants to have to sit at their computer after a long day at work. You have to with the Rosetta Stone course.

With Pimsleur, you can be laying on your bed or driving in your car. Pimsleur is a much more user friendly and practical way to learn a language! :- Message from TripAdvisor staff -:- TripAdvisor staff removed this post because it did not meet TripAdvisor's forum posting guidelines with prohibiting self-promotional advertising or solicitation.
